![]() The Zen garden is a peaceful botanical retreat. We offer many different unique stays from our Glamping Netted Hanging Round Bed to a converted Shipping Container made into an Eco Friendly Tiny Home to even a Tiny House Cottage and a treehouse! Our love for unwanted animals from horses, pigs chickens, ducks, dogs, birds (well you get the idea) allows us to care for rescued animals. We traveled for years only to discover Kokomo is inside of us all. We named Kokomo Farms after our two loves. Kokomo Farms is an Organic rescue farm on approximately 20 acres. So our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevationĢ0 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. It's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse, Magnolia sink is also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Your campsite is 1 of three spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow or Magnolia Sink). Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is currently named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s.
